First, my wife (Daphene Baines) and I (Robert Baines) were born in 1966. At the time of this writing, we were 48 years old. So we are not simply writing from a hypothetical perspective. We are over 40 years old and in pretty good shape. I jog/walk about 12 miles a week, do a weight lifting routine three times a week, and do an abs and stretch routine twice a week. I do a couple of 5k runs each year to support charities. My wife is on a much higher level. She recently ran a 15k run and is thinking about running a half a marathon. I will be praying for her … smile.
Second, my wife and I have family histories that make us very intentional about our health. Diabetes, hypertension, cancer, and obesity are common for both sides of our families. We don’t want to waste our last years suffering from diseases that are preventable or can be managed to a greater degree. We want to be around and in good health to see our grand children grow up and have families of their own.
Third, my wife is a certified personal trainer, nutrition and wellness consultant, and life coach. She earned a Master’s of Arts Degree. She teaches courses related to healthy eating and exercising as well as teach group exercise classes with an emphasis on seniors.
Fourth, I am a certified life coach, earned a Doctorate or Ministry Degree, and am a senior Pastor of a Baptist Church. I am writing with my own journey in mind and those things that would be helpful to my members.
So we bring some expertise, but we also bring some character and experiences to the table. We look forward to this blog being a rich blessing to you and yours.
